[ raleigh zooms into yancy's room with all the agility of someone who's been racing into rooms to make sure his son's okay for months now. usually, it's when there's a thump and yancy starts to cry, and he panics despite his heavily instigated rule about letting their baby figure out his limits and that he's not indestructible. this is no different; he wonders if he pinched his finger in the crib bar hinge or something, and is ready to soothe him with kisses and booboo damage control.
but he's fine. he looks fine, at the very least, but he's red faced and can't stop crying. it's an off cry, too, and has raleigh's hair on end.
he's bouncing and shooshing their screaming son by the time mako joins them, pacing the room and swaying slightly. ] I don't know, [ he admits, hunching his shoulders and pressing his cheek to his sons forehead. ] He feels warm... — where's the thermometer?
[ Mako chalks that up to Raleigh's overdeveloped Daddy sensors, her frustration at being denied sex with him rapidly dissipating when their baby sounds... off, somehow, and she doesn't need to be told twice when she goes straight for the first aid kit she'd stashed away in the baby's room in case they needed quick access.
She has the digital one out too, and she hands it over to him, worried but not panicking. She's hovering; fevers happen, as long as they didn't go past a certain degree he'd be all right sleeping it off. ]
[ they can't get the sensitive end of the thermometer in yancy's mouth when he's wailing like that, but it's easy enough to get it under his armpit. not that that makes raleigh feel any better when it's beeping and proclaiming that he's got a 101 degree temperature. which isn't awful, sure, but enough to make raleigh worry.
